President Bola Tinubu on Thursday, April 16, 2026, held his first formal engagement with leaders and coordinators of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors (RHA), the political structure driving his 2027 re-election campaign, at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.
During the meeting, the President urged members of the group to take their assignment seriously, emphasising the need for unity, discipline, and stronger grassroots engagement. He also stressed respect for democratic institutions, especially the judiciary, noting that adherence to court orders remains central to sustaining national stability.
According to Tinubu, the Renewed Hope project is aimed at fostering national cohesion and shared prosperity. He called on the ambassadors to actively promote the administration’s vision, insisting that Nigeria’s progress depends on a common national direction and collective responsibility.
“You represent the conscience of a nation striving to overcome poverty and hopelessness,” the President said, encouraging them to deepen public enlightenment and strengthen support for ongoing reforms.
The meeting was attended by Vice President Kashim Shettima, APC National Chairman Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, and key figures within the Renewed Hope structure, including Governors Hope Uzodimma of Imo State, Uba Sani of Kaduna, and Mohammed Inuwa Yahaya of Gombe State, among several other state governors.
Briefing the President, Governor Uzodimma said the structure of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors had been activated nationwide, with local government and ward-level coordination already in place. He added that outreach efforts had extended to markets, schools, professional groups, and grassroots organisations.
Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani emphasised the need for stronger communication of government achievements, arguing that telling the administration’s story effectively was essential to counter opposition narratives and misinformation.
Gombe State Governor Inuwa Yahaya reaffirmed the group’s readiness to deliver on its mandate, while stressing the importance of continued mobilisation across all levels.
Former governors and political stakeholders also praised the administration’s reforms. Former Katsina State Governor Aminu Masari commended the President’s policy direction and urged supporters not to be distracted by criticism. Former Senate President Anyim Pius Anyim described the initiative as strategically structured to counter misinformation and strengthen political coordination.
Other speakers, including former Governors Tanko Al-Makura and Ifeanyi Okowa, highlighted what they described as improvements in economic management, education funding support through NELFUND, and reforms at the federal level that, according to them, have strengthened sub-national governance.
The meeting ended with renewed assurances from participants of stronger mobilisation efforts ahead of the 2027 political cycle.
