A cleric, Bishop Silas Eke of Kingly Assembly Chapel in Abia State, has outlined why Mascot Uzor Kalu is, in his view, the All Progressives Congress (APC)’s most viable candidate for the 2027 Abia State governorship election.
Speaking in an interview with journalists, Bishop Eke said Kalu combines youthful drive with experience and administrative exposure, adding that his background in economics and business positions him to deliver meaningful development if elected.
He noted that Kalu’s past public service experience, especially as a former Chief of Staff, has given him practical insight into governance, policy coordination, and state administration.
According to him, the APC needs a candidate capable of uniting its structure across Abia State while also appealing to a wide range of voters, insisting that Kalu fits that requirement.
Bishop Eke said: “Mascot Uzor Kalu represents a balance between experience and youthful energy. He understands governance and the economy, and he has the capacity to mobilise people across Abia State.”
He also pointed to Kalu’s grassroots connections across various parts of the state, from Ukwa to Arochukwu, saying such networks could play a key role in an election.
The cleric further argued that Kalu’s business background would be valuable in addressing economic challenges, particularly job creation, attracting investment, and supporting small and medium-scale enterprises.
“In today’s Abia, we need someone who can think economically and act decisively. Mascot has shown the ability to manage both human and financial resources effectively,” he added.
Bishop Eke also stressed the importance of internal democracy within the APC, urging party leaders to either adopt a consensus arrangement or conduct a transparent primary election.
He maintained that allowing members to freely choose a candidate would strengthen party unity and improve APC’s chances in the 2027 governorship race in Abia State.
