The family of a newly graduated student of Ambrose Alli University, identified as Dania Scott, has raised the alarm over his whereabouts following his abduction in Ekpoma, Edo State, after three of his friends who were kidnapped alongside him regained their freedom.….......
Scott, who recently completed his studies and was awaiting his call-up letter from the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), was reportedly abducted on April 5, 2026, at about 11 p.m. in front of his residence.
His brother, who spoke to SaharaReporters on Wednesday, recounted the traumatic incident, revealing that Scott and three of his friends were taken by armed kidnappers in a late-night attack.
“My brother and three others were kidnapped on April 5, 2026, in front of their gate around 11 p.m.,” he said.
According to him, the kidnappers initially demanded a ransom of N52million for each of the victims before negotiations brought the amount down significantly.
“The kidnappers demanded N52 million each, but it was later negotiated to N5 million per person. Last week Thursday, three of my brother’s friends were released, but we were late to the exact location they gave us because we stay in Auchi, which is very far from Ekpoma,” he explained.
He further disclosed that since the release of the three victims, the family has been left in anguish as there has been no communication regarding Scott’s condition or whereabouts.
“Since last week Thursday when his friends were released, we have not heard anything from my brother. The following day, we tried to take the ransom to them, but his phone was switched off and we have not heard from him since,” he added.
Another family member expressed deep concern over the situation, noting that despite efforts to secure Scott’s release, there has been no progress or update from the abductors.
“After the abduction of the four individuals, three were released while Scott was left behind. Since then, there has been no news or information about him, and we are frightened. I have received word that the father is currently in Ekpoma with the money,” the source said.
The family lamented the deteriorating security situation in Edo State, accusing the state government of failing to take decisive action to curb the rising wave of kidnappings.
“The governor is not taking any action to address the insecurity in the state,” another top family member alleged.
