Francesco and Giacomo Fierloni, both 22, are believed to have been fatally struck after coming into contact with high-voltage power lines during what should have been a routine outing.
How twins died together
The young men had reportedly been training their pet birds ahead of the upcoming hunting season when the incident occurred.
According to The Mirror, a pigeon flew up and landed on overhead cables carrying an estimated 20,000 volts, suspended around 10 metres above the ground.

In an attempt to retrieve the bird, one of the brothers used a long carbon-fibre pole commonly used by hunters. It is feared that the pole made contact with the live wires, killing him instantly.
Investigators believe the second brother rushed to help, only to be struck by the electric wave in the process.

Moment deceased twins were found together
Concern grew when the twins failed to return home later that evening and did not respond to calls. Their father, Giorgio, went out searching for them, eventually tracing their location.
He made the devastating discovery: the brothers lying together in tall grass beneath an embankment, locked in an embrace that has since come to symbolise both their bond and their final moments.
Emergency responders rushed to the scene and attempted to resuscitate them, but both young men were pronounced dead.
Francesco and Giacomo were just weeks away from celebrating their 23rd birthdays, a sudden loss that has sent shockwaves through the small Italian community.
