A 21-year-old woman has alleged that she was sexually assaulted by a man described as a native doctor in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, after reportedly seeking treatment for an undisclosed illness.
In a video circulating online, the young woman recounted how she was directed to the suspect by people who claimed he could provide a cure for her condition. According to her account, the man instructed her to follow him into a bush area, saying the treatment would be carried out there.
She said she agreed and accompanied him to the location, believing it was part of a traditional healing process.
According to the woman, once they arrived, the suspect blew herbal substances on her and instructed her to remove her clothes. She claimed she complied, thinking it was necessary for the treatment.
The woman further alleged that the situation quickly turned inappropriate, as the man allegedly began touching her without consent before sexually assaulting her.
Sensing danger, she said she discreetly placed a call to her sister via WhatsApp video call, allowing the incident to be recorded without the suspect’s knowledge.
Everything was captured on camera, she said in the video, while appealing for justice.
The video has since sparked outrage on social media, with many users calling on law enforcement authorities to investigate the allegations and ensure the suspect is brought to justice if found culpable.
As of the time of filing this report, the Rivers State Police Command had not released an official statement regarding the matter.
Authorities are expected to review the video evidence and hear from all parties involved as investigations proceed.
