President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has held his first strategic meeting with leaders and coordinators of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors (RHA), setting the tone for what appears to be an early and coordinated push toward the 2027 general elections.

The high-level engagement, which took place on Thursday, April 16, at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, brought together key figures within the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), including governors, party leaders, and campaign strategists.

Tinubu: “We Must Not Submit to Lawlessness”

In a speech that blended political mobilisation with a stern warning to opponents, Tinubu charged the ambassadors to take the “Renewed Hope” message across the country while defending democratic institutions.

“You represent the conscience of a nation that wants to break the shackles of poverty and hopelessness,” the President declared.

He warned against what he described as a growing culture of disregard for the rule of law, stating:

> “We cannot submit to disobedience of lawful court orders. We must embrace the judiciary, whether it favours us or not.”

Framing the campaign as a national mission, Tinubu stressed that unity and a shared vision remain central to Nigeria’s progress.

RHA Structure ‘Fully Activated’ – Uzodinma

Director-General of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors and Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodinma, told the President that the campaign machinery is already operational nationwide.

According to him, structures have been activated down to the polling unit level, with data-driven mobilisation underway across markets, schools, religious platforms, and grassroots political networks.

“We Haven’t Done Enough” – Uba Sani

Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani struck a more reflective tone, admitting that the administration must intensify its communication strategy.

“If we don’t tell our story, others will tell it their own way,” he warned, accusing the opposition of pursuing “anarchy” rather than electoral competition.

Reforms Defended Amid Criticism

Former Katsina State Governor Aminu Bello Masari defended Tinubu’s controversial reforms, arguing that resistance is typical of transformative leadership.

“Reformers always face the toughest resistance at the beginning,” he said, challenging critics to propose reversing key policies such as fuel subsidy removal and foreign exchange unification.

Opposition Accused of ‘Misinformation’

Former Senate President Anyim Pius Anyim alleged that opposition forces are relying on “fake news and misinformation,” insisting the RHA remains ahead in shaping public perception.

—

Economic Gains and Policy Impact

Former Delta State Governor Ifeanyi Okowa credited the administration with stabilising the economy and empowering sub-national governments.

He also highlighted the impact of the student loan initiative under the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND), revealing that over 1.16 million students have benefited as of March.

2027 Calculations Begin

Beyond the rhetoric, the meeting signals the formal activation of a nationwide political structure ahead of 2027, with the Renewed Hope Ambassadors positioned as the grassroots engine of Tinubu’s re-election strategy.

With coordinated messaging, institutional backing, and early mobilisation, the APC appears to be moving swiftly to consolidate political capital—while drawing clear battle lines against an opposition it accuses of destabilisation.
