Nigerian skit maker and actor Ganiyu Morufu, popularly known as Ijoba Lande, has accused officers of the Area ‘J’ Division of the Lagos State Police Command of physically assaulting him, unlawfully seizing his phone, and stealing $1,200 belonging to his brother.
The allegations came after Ijoba Lande shared a video on his verified Facebook page, @Ijoba Lande 1, which quickly went viral. In the footage, the entertainer is seen with visible injuries around his eyes while bystanders attempt to clean his face with water. Later, he is shown inside what appears to be a police station, trying to lodge a formal complaint.
Ijoba Lande, who had returned to Nigeria from the United Kingdom six days prior, claimed that the attack happened shortly after his arrival. He stated:
“I came back from the UK 6 days ago and was attacked and beaten by police in Nigeria. They collected my iPhone 16 Pro Max and my brother’s $1,200. I nearly lost my life.”
The incident has sparked outrage online, with many questioning police conduct and demanding accountability.
