Ali’s morning routine
Ali noted that his sons were not the only ones in the house at the time of the incident, as other family members were also inside.

He painfully recounted receiving the news early in the morning from one of his sons, who broke the devastating news to him.
“I woke up at 5:45 a.m. to pray. As I was praying, I saw my phone ringing on the table. I checked and saw it was my son who lives in Kibeta. I immediately answered, and he told me there was a problem. He said a wall had collapsed on their house and they could not find two family members.
When I asked about the others, he said they did not know where they were either. That did not stop me from finishing my prayer, so I prayed first and afterwards followed up on what had happened,” he said.
Ali witnesses children’s bodies being removed
Ali took his motorcycle and rushed to the scene, noting that it was heavily raining at the time. When he arrived, he found a large crowd gathered.
Among them were the wife and secretary of the area Member of Parliament (MP), along with residents who were helping to retrieve the bodies.
“They were removing my child’s body and taking it to a car. That was when it hit me that my child was dead. I lost my strength. They then brought out the second body, claiming he was still alive. I was confused.
My neighbour held my hand and encouraged me to go and see the bodies. We went to the hospital and found they were being taken to the ward. I told them my children were already dead, but they insisted they were still alive. I asked them, if that was the case, why there were no doctors attending to them,” he said, convinced his children had passed away.

Meru man found dead after giving children poison
In another story, tragedy struck Muthara village in Meru county after David Mwenda and his two children were found dead in a disturbing incident.
The children, aged eight and three, died in hospital after suspected poisoning, with preliminary reports linking the deaths to events inside the family home.
Authorities have since launched investigations into the incident, with local leaders pointing to a possible poisoning case.
