“The agent was a Turkish woman who used to bring girls to the country, but sadly, the girls would run away and leave their babies in danger. Imagine a two-year-old fell from a building once, and it traumatised its mother. The agent was angry because the parents reported her to the police,” she told Lynne Zaabu World.

“My boss gave me some money for some food, and at the airport, I met the agent who insisted I leave,” she said.

Why was Dessy returned to Uganda?

When Dessy returned home, she went to live in her friend’s unfinished house in Mukono. There, the house was too bushy, and after some time, the agent sent her a message saying that she had made a mistake, and they started processing Dessy’s papers again.

She was taken to Turkey once more, and she worked for the same family; after two years, Dessy left the family. Things had been okay, but it got to a place where she was being denied food. She worked in Turkey for two years under her boss’s visa, and after one year, she applied again, and they rejected her.

“I was without documents for two and a half years, and that life was hard. I was always on hide and seek; Turkey was not accepting more people as foreigners were too many in the country. During that time, I worked in a hotel, a factory, collecting fruits, and even in a tea factory,” said Dessy.
