A reported domestic dispute has escalated into a tragic mass shooting on West 79th Street, leaving multiple casualties, including several children.
According to initial information, the incident involved a man identified as Shamar Elkins, who allegedly attacked members of his own family and relatives of his former partner. Authorities say the victims include eight children and two adult women.
Emergency responders confirmed that the two women survived the attack and were transported to hospital for treatment. Their current condition has not yet been officially disclosed.
Witnesses described a chaotic scene, stating that the suspect pursued victims during the incident, which unfolded across the neighborhood and left residents in shock.
Following the shooting, the suspect reportedly fled the area, carjacked a vehicle, and led law enforcement on a high-speed chase into Bossier City. Police later intercepted him on Brompton Lane, where the pursuit ended and the suspect was confirmed dead.
