BENIN CITY, EDO STATE – A young woman believed to be in her mid-20s has been seen wandering the streets of Benin City completely naked, shouting incoherently and making chilling confessions about her alleged involvement in internet fraud locally known as Yahoo and the ritual use of her own mother…. According to eyewitness accounts, the woman, whose identity has not been officially released, was a known practitioner of cyber fraud in the area. Trouble reportedly began one month after the alleged ritual was completed. The woman started complaining of sleepless nights, claiming the spirit of her mother had returned to torment her for betraying their blood bond. What began as whispered paranoia soon escalated into full-blown psychosis.
She started waking up at midnight screaming that her mother’s ghost was dragging her by the hair, a neighbor who pleaded anonymity told our reporter. “Within days, she tore off her clothes and ran into the street, shouting rubbish about how she used her mother’s body parts for money.
Residents of the densely populated area where she was first seen fleeing described a harrowing scene. The woman, visibly emaciated and unkempt, gesticulated wildly while muttering fragments of confession in both Pidgin English and her native dialect. Passersby kept their distance, with some recording videos that have since gone viral on social media.
Local vigilante members eventually restrained her and wrapped a cloth around her waist, but she remained combative and unintelligible. She was later handed over to relatives who reportedly confirmed that her biological mother had indeed gone missing weeks prior under mysterious circumstances. No formal police report has been filed regarding the mother’s disappearance as of press time.
