As the primary elections of the All Progressives Congress for the 2027 general election draws nearer, Ahmed Wadada, the preferred successor of Nasarawa State Governor, Abdullahi Sule, has appealed to stakeholders and leaders of the party to give him the needed support to emerge victorious.

Wadada, who currently represents Nasarawa West Senatorial District at the National Assembly, appealed during a press briefing at the Nigeria Union of Journalists, Nasarawa State Council, on Sunday in Lafia, the state capital.

While seeking the support of stakeholders in the state ahead of the 2027 elections, Wadada noted that the decision by Governor Abdullahi Sule goes beyond political endorsement, explaining that it is a call to higher service, disciplined leadership, and commitment to the people of Nasarawa state.

According to him, the governor had demonstrated exceptional wisdom in managing the political and developmental landscape of the state, hence he is deeply honored to be entrusted with the responsibility to build on his legacy.

He said, “I stand before you today with a deep sense of humility, gratitude, and responsibility following the decision of His Excellency, Governor Abdullahi A. Sule, who formally, on the 16th of April 2026, at a meeting with political appointees, identified me as his preferred successor.

“I express my profound appreciation to His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, for the warm welcome when we visited him at the Villa a couple of days ago. I also appreciate His Excellency, Governor Abdullahi A. Sule, for this confidence.

“I extend my sincere appreciation to my respected fellow aspirants. Your aspirations reflect a shared commitment to the progress of Nasarawa State, and your conduct throughout this process has strengthened our collective democratic culture. I look forward to continued collaboration in advancing our common vision.

“At this defining moment, I call on all stakeholders, party leaders, aspirants, supporters, and citizens, to come together in unity. The task ahead requires collective ownership, a shared vision, and disciplined execution. We must move forward not as individuals or factions, but as one Nasarawa, committed to stability, progress, and shared prosperity.”

Wadada further extended his gratitude to the state’s traditional rulers, religious leaders, youth, women, and community stakeholders, saying their steadfast support, guidance, and role in sustaining peace, unity, and social cohesion remain central to the stability and progress of the state.

While unveiling his blueprint to Journalists, the Sule’s preferred successor noted that the ‘HEARTS’ Agenda represents a structured, people-centred governance framework designed to deliver inclusive growth and shared prosperity, explaining that it is anchored on six interconnected pillars.

He gave a breakdown of the agenda to include Human Capital Development; Energy and Mineral Resources; Agriculture and Green Economy; Rural and Urban Renewal; Trade and Investment, and Security.

“This vision is not about starting anew; it is about finishing strong and scaling impact. It builds on the institutional foundations laid by Senator Abdullahi Adamu, the agricultural revitalisation of Governor Aliyu Akwe Doma, the urban renewal of Governor Umaru Tanko Al-Makura, and the industrial transformation advanced by Governor Abdullahi A. Sule, as encapsulated in the Nasarawa Economic Development Strategy (NEDS),” he explained.

He, therefore, noted that the ‘HEARTS’ Agenda represents a bridge between legacy and innovation, anchored on continuity, strengthened by reform, and driven by measurable results.

”Together, we have the opportunity to position Nasarawa State as a model of continuity, consolidation, and performance-driven governance. With strong institutions, coordinated delivery systems, and inclusive economic growth, we will unlock new opportunities across the state.

”Across the three zones, Nasarawa South, North, and West, our commitment is to deepen development outcomes, expand economic opportunities, and secure a future that delivers tangible improvements in the lives of our people,” he added.

NGGOSSIPS Online had reported that Wadada on Sunday in Lafia, paid a courtesy visit to the residence of former Governor Al-Makura to seek his blessings to enable him succeed during the forthcoming APC governorship primary election and the general election.

Al-Makura had on Saturday revealed that he was not consulted by the incumbent governor, Sule, before he announced his preferred candidate, Wadada, for the 2027 governorship election.

He made the disclosure while speaking with Journalists in Lafia, the state capital, shortly after a courtesy visit to his residence by a former Inspector-General of Police, Mohamed Abubakar Adamu, who is also a governorship aspirant under the platform of the All Progressives Congress.

While expressing concern over recent political developments in the state, particularly the issue of early endorsements, the former governor urged politicians to exercise caution and avoid actions that could violate the electoral guidelines ahead of the APC primaries.

He described as premature the recent pronouncement by Sule regarding his preferred successor, warning that such a move could undermine due process within the party.

According to him, the APC has yet to commence the sale of nomination and expression of interest forms, stressing that any endorsement at this stage amounts to “jumping the gun” before the formal process of producing aspirants begins.
