When he eventually returned home four days later, he was alone. His inability, or refusal, to explain the baby’s whereabouts has only deepened the mystery.
Authorities have confirmed that the father is currently being held at Mbale Police Station as investigations continue.
Baby Ariana, described as a calm child who often soothed herself by playing with her thumb, was last seen in Mbale town.
Residents angry over baby’s disappearance
Police say multiple search efforts have so far yielded no leads. Each passing day has heightened fears for her safety, as relatives cling to hope that she will be found alive and well.
Neighbours and residents have joined in the search, combing through nearby areas and sharing her details widely in the hope that someone, somewhere, may have seen something.
The case has sparked outrage and heartbreak in equal measure, with many struggling to understand how a baby could vanish without a trace.
Police are urging anyone with information, no matter how small, to report to the nearest station immediately.
For Ariana’s family, the wait is agonising, each hour stretching into an unbearable silence, broken only by the hope that their little girl will be brought back home.
