Controversial Nigerian social media personality and activist, Martins Vincent Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan (VDM), has announced that he will temporarily step back from posting on social media.
In a statement shared online, VDM said his decision follows allegations and accusations suggesting that his content has been distracting Nigerian youths from focusing on holding the government accountable.
According to him, some critics believe that his highly engaging posts have shifted attention away from political activism and ongoing calls for accountability from the current administration.
“I have decided not to post again on social media these period so that the youth can focus on protest and holding APC government accountable,” he stated.
He further added that he expects other influencers, celebrities, and activists to take up the space and continue engaging the public on national issues during his absence.
VDM maintained that the decision was made in response to public perception about his influence and the level of engagement his content generates online.
