A family and the medical fraternity have been thrown into mourning following the painful and untimely demise of a loved one and a dedicated professional.

Ere Siana Sintei Ogbachi passed away after successfully giving birth to triplets, leaving her family members and colleagues devastated.

Sintei suffered sudden postnatal complications after welcoming the three newborns at the Niger Delta University Teaching Hospital (NDUTH).

She required an emergency transfer to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at the Federal Medical Centre, Yenagoa, following the complications.

“My beloved sister, Dr Ere Siana Sintei Ogbachi, died at exactly 2:45am on Tuesday, April 14, 2026,” her brother, Meshack N. Sintei, said.

Meshack heartbreakingly recounted the final moments of his sister as he struggled to come to terms with the tragic loss.

He noted that the medical team worked tirelessly and did their best to keep his sister alive before she passed away in the early morning hours.

“We watched her struggle to live. We watched her gasping for breath. We watched as the team of doctors and specialists at FMC tried their best to revive her. We watched her fighting hard to survive, and then all of a sudden, the SpO₂machine (pulse oximeter) in the ICU began dropping from 70 to 50 and then to 0.

At that point, tears started rolling down my face, and I knew the inevitable had come. It was a painful experience, even more painful for her. I want her family and friends to know that she was a fighter to the end. Indeed, a generation has been lost, and the Sintei family mourns. It is well. We thank our families, friends, loved ones, and well-wishers who have reached out and continue to support us,” he said.

Nairobi lady dies after giving birth
