In an interview on State Affairs show with Edmund Obilo, Hon Abdul Oroh, former Edo State Commissioner for Information, stated that when Godwin Obaseki was governor, he tried to stop former Governor Adams Oshiomhole from entering Benin City.
Oroh said there was a day when Oshiomhole’s aircraft landed in Benin airport and some people blocked the airport road with burning tyres on Obaseki’s instruction.Â
Oroh stated that he was at the airport with Oshiomhole during the incident and he managed to escape from there in Chief Francis Inegbeniki’s vehicle.
In Oroh’s words: “There was a day Oshiomhole’s aircraft landed in Benin and Obaseki said he will not enter Benin city and they were burning tires on the road.Â
That Benin airport road that Oshiomhole built. That day the only way I escaped was that Chief Inegbeniki saw me and dragged me into his vehicle, and we were able to drive out of the airport”
