Kenyan dad shares daughter’s last frantic message before her mysterious death

Kisumu, Kenya: A family is in great pain as their daughter, Rose Benter Apondi, who went missing just before Easter weekend, has been confirmed dead.

In another tragic case, gender-based violence has claimed the life of a Seventh-Day Adventist (SDA) lady, Rose. She was allegedly killed by her estranged ex-boyfriend, Colman Stephen Okoth, who works at Compassionate Centre for Families (CCF Compassionate Family Carers).

Disturbingly, it is reported that Rose’s phone was switched off at the same workplace on Sunday night, and was later recovered yesterday, May 13, by the DCI.

“When her family first reached out to me, they said their primary suspect was her boyfriend,” said Jarunda Jaluth Mambobiad.

Why are Kenyans demanding Justice for Rose?

According to the family, the last communication anyone received from her was a heartbreaking text message in which she said she had been assaulted by a gang and after that, her phone was switched off. Rose was found dead, and this is a devastating loss.

“My heart goes out to her family, friends, and everyone who knew and loved her. May God grant them strength, comfort, and peace during this painful time,” said Jarunda Jaluth Mambobiad.

“Many of you mocked the announcement and brushed it off, saying Rose had probably ran off for marriage and was somewhere enjoying life with her husband. Yes, social media brings together all kinds of people, but that should never take away our responsibility to be humane and sensitive, especially when it comes to serious and painful situations,” he added.

He also told Kenyans that there was a need to treat such matters with the care and respect they deserve, regardless of their background or level of education.

Family mourns as ex-lover is killed by lover

In another story, Jackline Awuor from Nakuru was allegedly murdered by her estranged lover and her body was discovered in a quarry.

Sadly, her body was found in a very bad condition, and it left the family deeply shocked, with some parts reportedly missing.
