The operation, carried out by troops of 12 Brigade on April 20, 2026, took place along the Obajana–Kabba road in Lokoja Local Government Area. Acting on credible intelligence, soldiers mounted a snap checkpoint and intercepted a Toyota bus travelling from Makurdi to Obajana.

According to a statement posted by the Acting Assistant Director, Army Public Relations 12 Brigade Nigerian Army, Lieutenant Hassan Abdulahi on X on Monday, “A thorough search of the vehicle led to the arrest of two suspected terrorists’ logistics. The suspects were identified as Mallam Zubairu Abubakar and Adamu Abubakar Abdullah.”

According to the statement, the troops recovered a sack containing 314 rounds of 7.62mm (Special) ammunition and three AK-47 rifle magazines concealed behind the driver’s seat.” Other items recovered include mobile phones and identification documents.

The Army noted that the operation followed earlier successes in the same area.

“In one of such operations conducted on 29 March 2026 along the Jamata–Owara road, troops intercepted a suspected courier riding a motorcycle specially modified with a concealed compartment for the covert conveyance of ammunition,” the statement added.

The suspect in the earlier operation was identified as Mathew Elisha, also known as Nasara, who was reportedly on a security watch list. “Preliminary findings established links between the suspect and known terrorist elements, leading to follow-on operations,” the statement said.

Military authorities confirmed that the suspects and recovered items have been handed over for further investigation. “This successful interception underscores the vigilance and proactive posture of troops in denying terrorists freedom of movement and disrupting their logistics network within the operational environment,” the statement added.

The Army emphasised that the operations are part of sustained, intelligence-driven efforts to dismantle supply chains and enhance security across the region.
