Tharaka Nithi, Kenya: Lewis, the ailing older brother of Musa Kihara, who trended as the Kwa Mbae boy, has finally been transferred to KU, and the two brothers also got the chance to see each other after four months.

Musa Kihara shot into the limelight after a boda boda rider saw him seated along the road looking forlorn and asked him for directions to his (Lewis’s) home.

The boy got to his feet and patiently explained where he came from in an eloquent manner, and his speech touched many Kenyans, who could not wait to meet him. When TikTokers started trooping to his home, they found out that the boy’s brother suffers from throat cancer and was admitted to the hospital.

When did Lewis fall sick?

According to Lewis’s mum, the young boy started ailing in the second term of 2025, and it all started with a swelling on his neck. They were treated at Chuka Hospital and sent home, only for the illness to return in full swing. He was sent to the hospital and given a blood transfusion at the general hospital.

It emerged that the father of the boy had spent four months with his son in the hospital, and the doctors recommended that he be transferred to another hospital for specialised treatment.

Obidan Dela told NgGossips that they required KSh 2 million, but the family could not raise it; eventually, it got to KSh 1.5 million after well-wishers’ help, then got to KSh 800,000. A neighbour agreed to give his title deed to help the ailing child be transferred to the Kenyatta University Referral Hospital for further treatment.

At KU, the boy was in an ambulance, and after that, he finally met his brother after months, and the two exchanged a conversation and some smiles to the delight of netizens.

In videos, Lewis is seen looking cheerful; he also took some soda, water and was playing video games. Many marvelled that he was quite a handsome boy.

“We are here at the hospital, and Lewis has already been admitted and treatment started. We are still looking to raise more money for the bill,” said Obidan

In another story, the four-year-old boy from Tharaka Nithi went viral online for his humorous and detailed directions to a concerned boda boda rider.

Well-wishers, moved by the video, started raising money to buy him and his family gifts, which included brand new school uniforms.

Currently, there are neighbours with the family at the KU Hospital, helping to take care of the boy.
