UTME Begins Smoothly Amid Strong Rules Compliance By Candidates

Candidates for the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination complied with the directive on gadgets and arrived early at the centers, Joint Admissions Matriculation Board (JAMB) supervisors said Thursday.

One of the Supervisors who spoke with THE WHISTLER at the Rosa Mystica Academy, Kubwa, Adeosun Olayiwola, stated that checking of candidates began around 6:30am while the examination started at 8:30am.

“This is the first session. We met up with the time. Everything was in order. The candidate came on time. We started checking them around 6.30am. they started the exam around 8.30am which is the stipulated time for them to start the examination. Before, they entered , we spoke with them about dropping any gadget they have with them, and they complied,” he said.

He added that examination went smoothly without any hitches attributing it to JAMB meticulous preparation.

“We were here yesterday for dummy test. We used 150 candidates to make sure the test works well. They were students here that are writing the examination. It helped us to do our testing and also helped them get used to the examination,” he explained.

He added that 750 candidates were expected for the three sessions of the examination adding that 14 candidates were absent during the first session.

Also speaking, another supervisor at the Adeola Secondary School, Gbolagade Ojedele expressed satisfaction over the exercise, while commending the turnout of candidates for the examination.

“For the first session, 237 students came for the examination, for the second session, we had 245 while 240 came for the third session,” he explained.

Meanwhile, candidates and parents who spoke to THE WHISTLER commended the smooth conduct of the examination, describing the process as organised and free of technical challenges.

One of the candidates, Hibatullah Amedu who wrote for the last session, stated that she encountered no issue while writing the examination.

“I want to become a doctor and I am hopeful that the result will come out well. We had no issue while writing. It was smooth sailing, “ she said.

Another student, Ufedor Samuel, explained that though he was in his second year in school, he wanted to change course adding that the examination was not an issue for him.

Also, a parent who spoke to THE WHISTLER at the Valuable CBT Centre, Dei-dei, Mr. Ifeanyi Ezekiel said the process was very calm and orderly.

“Accreditation started as early as 6:30 with two separate queues. One for boys and the other for girls. Parents waited outside and by 10:35am,the first session was over,” he said.
