Iringa, Tanzania: A US-based man has offered to educate a boy who had to drop out of school after the national exam due to a lack of fees and to also care for his ailing mum.

GADI TV reports that the child uses money earned from casual labour to feed his physically disabled mother, and while doing the difficult job, he also failed his Grade Seven exams.

A Tanzanian living in the United States, Claude Maheshe, has been moved by the situation and stated that he will support the child’s education so that he can become a greater help to his mother and the community.
Earlier, the child’s mother, speaking, explained that her son started doing casual jobs after his father abandoned them and disappeared to an unknown location, and it has now been more than 10 years without any trace of him.

“He left, saying that he was going to look for casual jobs, and he has never returned, nor has he ever looked for me. My son completed Grade Seven, and he was unable to join school; he was just at home waiting for a way out,” she said.
“I am a trained tailor who needs a machine and capital to start making clothes,” said the ailing woman.
Claude asked the young boy to repeat Grade Seven to get better grades, and he will educate the boy up to university level.
“I want to get an education and help my mother; Iam the man of the house,” he said.
