A Part 4 medical student in the College of Health Sciences of Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile-Ife, Osun State, Oreoluwa Emmanuel Adewole, has died during a clinical examination.
The Public Relations Officer of the university, Abiodun Olarewaju, made this known in a statement he made available to newsmen.
In the statement on Thursday, stated that the unfortunate incident occurred during a clinical viva examination when the student reportedly complained of chest pain.
The University spokesperson said that the student was immediately attended to by his lecturers and fellow medical students present, regretting that despite prompt medical attention and all efforts made to revive him, he sadly passed on.
This tragic loss has sent shockwaves through the University community.
The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Adebayo Simeon Bamire, on behalf of the Governing Council, Senate, staff, and students of the University has extended heartfelt condolences to the parents, siblings, and entire family of the deceased.
Bamire also commiserated with his friends, colleagues, and members of the College of Health Sciences over the painful and irreparable loss.
The University Management, Olarewaju said, is currently engaging relevant authorities and the family to provide necessary support and to further understand the circumstances surrounding this unfortunate incident, adding: “May the soul of the departed rest in perfect peace.”
