Planet Talk, a technology-driven platform focused on supporting migrant communities, has expanded its services to Ireland and the United States as it accelerates international growth and deepens its footprint across key diaspora markets.
The latest expansion marks a continuation of the company’s recent push beyond its traditional base, following earlier rollouts in France and Canada. In the past year, the platform has transitioned from a UK-only service into a multi-market offering, reflecting rising demand for digital tools that help migrants manage cross-border financial and family responsibilities.
Founded more than two decades ago in the United Kingdom, Planet Talk has evolved from a low-cost international calling service into a broader digital platform offering communications and financial support tools.
Its app now enables users to make international calls, send airtime and data, and pay utility bills for family members across more than 150 countries.
The company’s expansion comes amid a shift in remittance behaviour across African markets, where diaspora communities are increasingly seeking services that go beyond cash transfers to include bill payments, mobile top-ups and other essential household support. Industry players have also noted growing demand for mobile-first platforms that integrate communication and payments in a single interface.
In Nigeria and other parts of West and East Africa, these trends are reshaping how migrant workers engage with families at home, with convenience, transparency and speed becoming key drivers of adoption.
Managing Director of Planet Talk, Tope Ayedun, said the expansion reflects the company’s broader mission to strengthen family connections across borders.

Planet Talk said its services are now available in the United Kingdom, France, Canada, Ireland and the United States, with further expansion planned as it looks to scale its offering across additional markets with large migrant populations.
