However, one man took the initiative to build his family home with the help of a few friends to reduce the costs of hiring foremen and masons.
Where does Gatuso come from?
Gatuso challenged himself to construct a three-bedroom house using mud, palm trees, and wood, providing his family with a secure place to live.

The man from Kwa Lengo, Ziani Chonyi, gave a tour of the impressive house, noting that he completed it within a month despite having no prior construction experience.
“This is the balcony. This is the work of God-given talent. God blessed me with these skills. This is the first floor, this is where my second wife stays, while my first wife stays on the ground floor. The children stay in the underground section. I spent KSh 200,000 to build this house. If someone wants me to build a similar one, KSh 200,000 would go towards materials, and an additional KSh 100,000 would cover labour. I have also installed wiring, so there is electricity,” he said.
Gatuso explained that he used gum wood for the pillars, noting that it is durable and reliable for supporting the structure.
Where is Gatuso’s kitchen?
He observed that many people are building modern apartments influenced by Western culture, but he chose to construct something simple and locally inspired.

“The toilets are outside, and there are three living rooms in the house. The kitchen is also outside, and my two wives share it. I eat with both my wives. After eating in my second wife’s room, I go and eat in my first wife’s room,” he said, adding that he has 12 children.
Gatuso revealed that both wives are currently pregnant, and with his growing family, he plans to build another house.
He intends to construct a similar structure for the children while accommodating a third wife in the underground section.
