Lagos State Deputy Governor, Obafemi Hamzat, on Sunday, met with Femi Gbajabiamila, the Chief of Staff to President Bola Tinubu, as part of his ongoing consultations ahead of the 2027 governorship race.
In a statement posted on his verified X account, Hamzat described the engagement as a platform to review the state’s progress and the collaborative efforts needed to strengthen Lagos.
“As part of my ongoing consultations, I met with the Chief of Staff to the President, Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila. We discussed the direction of our state and the work required to move it forward.
“It remains our shared responsibility to strengthen Lagos and continue delivering better outcomes for our people. I am focused and clear about the work ahead,” he wrote.
Similarly, Gbajabiamila, on his X handle, said the visit was part of consultations on Hamzat’s aspiration to lead Lagos.
“Earlier today, I received H.E. @drobafemihamzat and his entourage who came for a consultative visit on his aspiration to lead our dear state. We engaged and his capacity is not in doubt.
“We will continue to share ideas on how to continue to move Lagos forward and build on work already done by past governors,” the Chief of Staff said.

The meeting forms part of early-stage political consultations the deputy governor has been conducting in recent weeks, including one with members of the Lagos Governance Advisory Council.
Recall that the Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Mr Mudashiru Obasa, had expressed support for Hamzat’s governorship bid.
