CHUKA UBAH

Chief Emmanuel Ubah, popularly known as Otunba Ojoto, has accepted the outcome of the recent election of Ohanaeze Ndigbo and rallying support for the President-elect,  Chief Leonard Okafor, also known as Oba Ojoto in Lagos State.

P.M.EXPRESS reports that Chief Ubah also expressed gratitude to his supporters while also addressing a controversial leaked voice note that has circulated widely online.

Speaking after the election, Ubah thanked those who voted for him as well as those who did not, noting that “in every contest, there must be a winner”. He pledged his full support for Oba Ojoto, describing him as a brother and expressing confidence in his ability to lead effectively.

“I support my brother who has won, and I pray that God will give him the wisdom and understanding to do the needful,” Ubah said, emphasising the importance of unity among the Igbo community in Lagos State. He stressed that Igbos must “speak with one voice” to strengthen their collective progress and integrity.

On the leaked voice message, Ubah clarified that the recording was a private conversation between him and a former president, Chief Solomon Aguene. He explained that the message was an emotional outpouring about his nasty experiences during the election and was never intended for public circulation.

“I was pouring out my heart over what I went through during the election. I never knew the voice note would go public,” he said.

Ubah also responded to criticism over a statement in the recording where he allegedly mentioned taking his opponent to a shrine. He admitted to have said so,  explaining that it was meant to scare Aguene to return the money he allegedly swindled him of during the election.

“I am not a native doctor and have never gone to one. I only used that expression to make a point,” he said.

Chief Ubah distanced himself from the online publications and media reports linked to the voice note, insisting that he neither authorised nor directed any such dissemination. He disclosed that he had reached out to individuals sharing the content, urging them to retract it to protect his reputation.

“I am not the one spreading the voice note or the messages online. People are trying to damage my integrity,” Ubah stated.

Reaffirming his commitment to peace and unity, Ubah said he has already communicated with key stakeholders to clarify his position and plans to formally address the issue through a press conference.

He concluded by urging members of the Igbo community in Lagos to rally behind the new leadership for the sake of progress and cohesion.

“My duty now is to support whoever is president and ensure he succeeds. I will give him my 100 per cent support to bring the Igbos together,” he said.
