Nigerian music star Peter Okoye has stirred reactions online after announcing a personal decision to change his birthday date.
The singer, popularly known as Mr P, made the declaration on Monday via his official X account.
He wrote: “I am officially changing my birthday date.”
He did not provide further details as of the time of this report.
Peter Okoye rose to fame as one half of P-Square, the award-winning duo he formed with his twin brother, Paul Okoye.
The group dominated African pop music through the 2000s and early 2010s before internal disagreements led to a split.
The first major breakdown became public around 2015, linked to management disputes involving their elder brother, Jude Okoye, who handled their business affairs.
Issues around royalties, creative control and family involvement deepened the rift.
By 2017, the duo disbanded, with both brothers pursuing solo careers as Mr P and Rudeboy.
They later reconciled in November 2021, a reunion that sparked excitement among fans and led to joint appearances and new music.
However, the renewed partnership struggled to match earlier commercial success, while reported tensions resurfaced over financial transparency, royalty management and corporate structures tied to their catalogue.
Peter Okoye later alleged irregularities linked to their former management setup, triggering fresh public exchanges and legal proceedings involving members of the family.
The latest announcement adds a new layer to the public conversation around the singer, though the reason behind the decision remains unclear.
