Pain as little girl who witnessed mum’s murder by KDF captain asks when she'll see her

The family of 29-year-old Nakuru woman, Anita Mugweru, is still mourning following her tragic death.

Anita was allegedly killed by her husband, Edwin Kaunga, a Kenya Defence Forces captain, following a domestic dispute.

Speaking to the press, the deceased woman’s househelp shared a chilling account of the incident, noting that Edwin allegedly used a kitchen knife to stab his wife to death.

He reportedly committed the heinous act as their four-year-old child, Baby Tai, watched in horror. Anita was rushed to hospital but was sadly pronounced dead on arrival.

The couple is said to have engaged in a fight over allegations of infidelity.

Daughter of woman killed by KDF captain asks for her mum

The deceased woman’s family visited former Nairobi governor Mike Sonko seeking help to lay their daughter to rest.

They noted that Anita was the family’s sole breadwinner, as her siblings are unemployed.

“It is very painful to learn that Anita, who was stabbed by her KDF husband Captain Edwin Muthoni in Nakuru, was the sole breadwinner of her family. Now that she is gone, the family is struggling; her mother is unwell, and her siblings are jobless,” said Sonko.

He held the four-year-old girl, who witnessed her mother’s murder, noting that she kept asking to visit her mother at the hospital.

Sonko shared that Baby Tai was still unaware of what had truly happened, even as he engaged her in light conversation.

Tai kept asking to see her mother, believing she had been rushed to the hospital.

“Her four-year-old child, Baby Tai, is still in shock, constantly asking where her mother is, not knowing she was killed by her own father. She keeps asking to be taken to the hospital to see her,” added Sonko.

The politician bought the little girl snacks to cheer her up, and she expressed immense joy. He stated that he would support Baby Tai in the best way he could and also assist Anita’s family.

“The little girl, Baby Tai, has already formed a bond with me. She didn’t want to leave and innocently asked for simple things like ice cream, gummies, and chocolates. As always, I showed her love the best way I could,” said Sonko.

The former governor noted that he had spoken to several leaders to contribute to funeral expenses and gave the family KSh 100,000 to help cover initial costs, with a promise of further support.

In other news, NgGossips reported that Anita’s househelp, who witnessed her final moments, revealed what she said before she died.

According to her, Edwin accused his wife of infidelity, and she also made similar accusations, escalating the fight. In her last words, the mother of one asked Edwin to leave her and be with the women he was allegedly seeing.

“If you have women out there, go to them and live with them. You do not even pay rent here. I try to help you, but you do not even want to be helped. Let’s wait for Saturday so that our parents can come to resolve these issues. I have tried to leave you, but you keep following me,” the househelp said verbatim.
