Israel, world leaders voice support for Trump after White House dinner shooting

Foreign Affairs Minister Gideon Sa’ar reacted to the shooting at the White House Correspondents Dinner in an X/Twitter post on Wednesday, saying Israel stands “shoulder to shoulder” with US President Donald Trump.

“I condemn in the strongest possible terms the shooting incident at the White House Correspondents’ dinner attended by President Trump,” said Sa’ar, adding that he commends US security forces “for their swift action in neutralizing the attacker.”

“Zero tolerance for political violence,” he concluded.

President Isaac Herzog also posted his reaction to X/Twitter, saying he is “relieved to hear” that President Trump, First Lady Melania Trump, and Vice President JD Vance were unharmed in the attack.

“We are thankful that the law enforcement officer shot during the attack is safe and on the path of recovery,” said Herzog. “From the Holy Land, we pray for the safety and security of the United States of America and its leaders after this heinous attack.”

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi posted to X/Twitter that he is “relieved to learn that President Trump, the First Lady, and Vice President are safe and unharmed following the recent security incident at a Washington DC hotel.”

“I extend my best wishes for their continued safety and well-being,” added Modi. “Violence has no place in a democracy and must be unequivocally condemned.”

Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said on X/Twitter that he was “deeply shocked” by the attack, adding that he is “relieved to know that President Trump, the First Lady, and other attendees are safe.”

“My thoughts and prayers are with him, and I wish him continued safety and well-being,” he added.

Dominican Republic President Luis Abinader reacted on X/Twitter as well, expressing his relief that US officials were safe following the “cowardly attack tonight in Washington.”

“We applaud the courageous law enforcement officers who detained the gunman, and we pray for the full recovery of the wounded officer,” said Abinader. “The prayers of all Dominicans are with the American people.”
