The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has concluded the second phase of its nationwide Continuous Voter Registration, CVR, exercise, recording a total of 3,748,704 completed registrations across the country, as it now shifts attention to the display of the voter register for Claims and Objections.

According to the commission’s weekly update for Week 14 of the second phase, the total figure comprises both online pre-registrations and in-person completions at designated centres nationwide.

A breakdown of the numbers shows that 2,259,288 Nigerians completed their registration through the online pre-registration portal, while 1,489,416 finalised the process physically at registration centres. INEC noted that the figures are preliminary and remain subject to further verification.

With the registration phase now concluded, INEC has transitioned to the display of the Register of Voters for Claims and Objections — a critical quality-assurance stage designed to ensure the accuracy and integrity of the voter register ahead of the 2027 General Election.

The display exercise will run from Sunday, April 20, to Sunday, April 26, 2026, at designated centres across all states of the federation. During this period, citizens will have the opportunity to verify their personal details and formally raise objections where errors or irregularities are identified.

The commission urged all Nigerians who registered during the second phase to take advantage of the window and called on the public to assist in identifying ineligible entries, including duplicate registrations, deceased persons, and non-citizens on the register.

The CVR exercise is being conducted in multiple phases. The first phase ran from August 18 to December 10, 2025, while the second phase, which has now concluded, spanned January 5 to April 17, 2026.

In line with its earlier published timeline, INEC announced that the third phase of the CVR will commence on May 4, 2026, and run through August 17, 2026, offering another registration window for eligible Nigerians yet to enrol.

A third round of the Claims and Objections display exercise is scheduled to follow from August 24 to 30, 2026.
