According to report by Daily Post on Friday, April 24, 2026, Former Minister of Transportation, and chieftain of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Rotimi Amaechi, has restated his claims about how he left the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), citing deep political disagreements and internal party struggles.....…
He explained that tensions within the party were driven by ... disagreements over leadership, policy direction, and control of the party structure in Rivers State. According to him, his role as a prominent political figure and Chairman of the Governors’ Forum further intensified the conflict within the PDP at the time.
to him, “I was literally chased out of the PDP by former President Goodluck Jonathan and his wife.” He further stated that the political machinery in Rivers State was taken from his control and reassigned,
Amaechi noted that the removal of his influence within the party structure marked a turning point in his political journey. He argued that the decision reflected broader struggles for control within the party, especially at the state level, where competing interests often shaped leadership outcomes.
He added that his disagreements with the Jonathan administration were not personal, but based on policy differences, which he said were discussed on several occasions without resolution. Despite these engagements, he maintained that the political rift continued to widen, eventually leading to his exit from the PDP.
Amaechi further suggested that his political challenges did not end with his departure from the PDP, as similar tensions followed him into other political platforms. He maintained that he has always been outspoken about governance issues and unwilling to compromise his principles for political convenience…....…
