“Job left home for work in Kisumu. He fell sick while there. After some time, I sent his mother, my wife, to visit him in the hospital. Unfortunately, he passed away. When he died, I sent some people to collect his body and bring it home, but when they arrived, they could not find it,” he said.
The deceased’s mother, Tufena Atieno Nyadiero, also narrated the painful ordeal after travelling to Kisumu upon receiving news of her son’s death.
“We were shocked. I was heartbroken and angry. They told us a woman identified as Jennifer had taken his body. We then went to the mortuary in Seme, where we were denied access,” she said tearfully.
Nyadiero’s family lawyer speaks
Family lawyer Alberto Ngoso revealed that legal steps are already underway to exhume the body after the matter was taken to court.

“This family is in deep distress. On Sunday, April 19, we filed an application to stop the imminent burial and removal of the body from Kombewa Mortuary. Unfortunately, while we were in the process of securing an injunction, the woman claiming to be the aunt allegedly removed the body and hurriedly buried it on Monday. We rushed back to court and obtained exhumation orders, which were granted. This is a case of double pain and loss. Someone took a body that does not belong to her,” he said.
Ngoso questioned how morgue attendants in Seme allowed the incident to happen, describing it as inhumane, disappointing, and deeply distressing.
