The Calabar–Oron waterway, which has long served as a haven for abductors, has again been threatened with a reported abduction of an undisclosed number of travelers.
Sources at the Safe Anchor beach in Calabar, who craved anonymity, said the gun-wielding kidnappers ambushed a ferry in which the passengers were travelling and abducted them on Friday.
It is still unclear the exact number of passengers abducted during the incident.
When contacted for confirmation, the Cross River State Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Sunday Eitokpah, referred the report to the Akwa Ibom State Police Command for confirmation.
