The Delta Senators U-19 Unifier Cup officially kicked off on April 17, 2026, at the Southern Delta University Stadium, drawing key political figures, corporate sponsors, and sports stakeholders in a show of unity and commitment to youth development through football.
Among dignitaries present were Sen. Joel-Onowakpo Thomas, Sen. Ede Dafinone, and a representative of Sen. Ned Nwoko, underscoring strong senatorial backing for the grassroots sporting initiative.
The tournament, organised by 3D Global Limited, aims to promote unity across Delta State while discovering young football talents. Its Chief Executive Officer, Onoriode Gold Omagufi, said the competition is designed to bring together youths from different communities and create opportunities for emerging players.

He commended the Delta senators for their support and expressed appreciation to Tantita Security Services Nigeria Limited for serving as a major sponsor of the tournament.
The Managing Director of Tantita, High Chief Kestin Pondi, was represented at the event by Daisy Jaja, who conveyed goodwill from the company’s leadership and reaffirmed its commitment to community development in the Niger Delta through corporate social responsibility initiatives.
In his remarks, Senator Joel-Onowakpo Thomas expressed satisfaction with the successful opening ceremony, pledging continued support for programmes that drive youth engagement and development, particularly within the Delta South Senatorial District.
The opening match between Team Senator and Isoko North Team ended 1-0 in favour of Isoko North, setting the tone for what organisers described as a competitive and talent-driven tournament.
The event also attracted support from the Nigeria Senate, Delta State Government, the Delta Football Association, Confederation of African Football, Elomaz Foundation, DESOPADEC, and BMD Hotels, among others.
The Delta U-19 Unifier Cup is expected to serve as a platform for identifying future football stars while strengthening unity across the state through sport.
