A Nigerian trader and content creator, Love Dooshima, has been released from police custody following a midnight intervention after she was detained over a viral video questioning the shelf life of a commercial loaf of bread.
Earlier reports had indicated that the TikToker was invited by the Nigeria Police Force over allegations bordering on cyberstalking, fraud and mischief.
The development was first made public by influencer Lucky Udu, who shared her message confirming the invitation.
Udu said the creator had reached out to him after receiving the police invitation, adding that the situation had attracted wide public attention.
“How many of you saw the video of the bread lady I posted? So she reached out to me that she has just been invited to the Nigeria Police Force headquarters for cyberstalking, mischief,” he said.
He explained that he had advised her to maintain communication with him as Nigerians continue to follow developments around the case.
“I have told this lady to keep in touch with me because a lot of Nigerians want to see how it goes,” he added.
In a screenshot of her message shared online, the TikToker, who uses the handle @lovedooshimaa, confirmed she had been summoned to the Force Headquarters for questioning.
“Hello good evening my brother. I saw the video you made and how many followers you pulled for me… As at this moment I have received an invitation to police HQ to come for an interview because I have been reported for cyberstalking, fraud, mischief and so on,” she wrote.
In an update, human rights lawyer and activist Inibehe Effiong disclosed on Tuesday that the TikToker was freed around 12:30am after intervention by senior police authorities.
According to him, Dooshima had honoured the police invitation at about 12pm on Monday, April 20, 2026, at the Zone 7 Police Headquarters in Abuja, but was subsequently detained.
“We received a distress call that she honoured police invitation since 12pm on Monday, April 20, 2026, but she was detained afterwards,” Effiong said.
He added that he, alongside others, went to the police facility overnight to demand her release.
Effiong said the Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Disu, intervened in the matter and directed officers to ensure her release.
“Following the intervention of the IGP, she has been released at about 12:30am today, Tuesday, April 21, 2026. We will be back by daybreak,” he said.
He further noted that Dooshima was brought out from the cell in the early hours of Tuesday after hours of detention.
Concerns were also raised about her health, with activist Precious Orueche, known as Mama Pee saying she required medication as a hypertensive patient while in custody.
“CEO BON BREAD @bonbreadng USING THE NIGERIA POLICE TO OPPRESS AND DETAIN THE WOMAN @afroshima
“SINCE 12 NOON AT AIG ZONE 7 ABUJA…ALL WE ARE ASKING NOW IS TO ALLOW US GIVE HER HER DRUGS AS SHE IS HIGHLY HYPERTENSIVE @PoliceNG,” Mama Pee wrote
The matter stems from a viral TikTok video in which the content creator raised concerns about a loaf of bread she alleged remained fresh for about two months after purchase.
