She had reportedly endured a strained relationship with her husband, who worked with the Kenya Defence Forces (KDF), before her untimely death.

A friend of the deceased spoke to NgGossips, shedding light on the couple’s troubled relationship and the alleged involvement of a third party.

“While it appeared he was acting out of jealousy, claiming Anita had found other men, which was not true, he was actually the one cheating on her.
“There was a time he told her the only way he would let her go was if she died. He had also threatened her with a knife before, though that was some time ago. He always said he could never allow her to be with another man. Even after they separated, he continued to stalk her,” the friend claimed.
Anita’s friend talks about Edwin’s threats
She said she had feared for Anita’s life due to the repeated threats, which sadly appeared to have come true.
The friend further alleged that Edwin was involved with another woman, criticising him for being unfaithful while accusing Anita of the same.
“He had another woman besides Anita. You could see how close they were. He was the one having an affair,” she said, as she called for justice.
Was Anita Mugweru her family’s breadwinner?
She added that Anita had been the one paying household bills, including rent, only for her efforts to end in tragedy in front of her four-year-old child.

The friend’s account echoed sentiments shared by Anita’s mother following the incident.
Serah Mugweru struggled to hold back tears as she spoke about her daughter, describing her as the family’s breadwinner.
“She was always supportive. Whenever we had a project, she would provide financially. She also helped educate her siblings. We are grieving, and that man has left us in deep pain. We just want justice. We want the government to intervene and ensure justice is served,” she said emotionally.

Serah’s plan before daughter’s death
Serah added that just days before Anita’s death, she and her husband had planned to visit the couple to help resolve their ongoing conflicts, which had persisted for a long time.
She revealed that Anita had previously called her, saying Edwin had threatened her life, but they had not fully grasped the seriousness of the threats at the time.
By the time they were preparing to visit their daughter, she had already been killed by the very man who was supposed to protect her.
