Beryl Akumu Juma was allegedly dumped in Kampala, Uganda, by her cousin, leaving her stranded and unsure of how to reunite with her family.
She shared a heartbreaking video online that quickly spread across social media as she sought help to return to her relatives back home.
It was not long before her video reached relevant authorities, including Ababu Namwamba.

What is Ababu Namwamba’s role in government?
The Kenya High Commissioner to Uganda was moved by the clip and the young girl’s plea, and he arranged to meet her to help fulfil her wish.
“Beryl Akumu Juma is now safely in the custody and care of the Kenya High Commission in Kampala, and her family in Kisumu County has been traced. We are working on reuniting them, as we also focus on getting Beryl back to school and securing a suitable home environment for her,” he shared on his online platform.
Namwamba warmly welcomed Beryl to his office as plans were made to return her to Kenya and reunite her with her family.
He held a conversation with the girl, who appeared more at ease in his presence, as he ensured she felt comfortable and safe in his office.

One viral photo captured Namwamba serving Beryl tea and adding sugar to her drink, highlighting his humility and sense of service.
