A public affairs analyst, Jabir Madaki, has warned Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf that making the wrong choice in appointing a substantive deputy governor could damage the legacy of his administration.
Madaki, in a report titled “Government Integrity and Public Interest” on Wednesday, described the decision as a critical moment for the government.
“Your deputy appointment will either define this administration with honour or lead to consequences that may be difficult to reverse,” he cautioned.
He also raised concerns over reports that a candidate facing legal issues may be under consideration, noting that such a move could weaken public trust.
“Appointing a candidate facing unresolved corruption allegations would contradict the administration’s commitment to transparency and accountability,” he said.
He urged the governor to choose a seasoned professional with proven competence and integrity.
He added that Governor Yusuf’s decision should be guided by public interest to strengthen governance and sustain confidence in the administration.
