The federal government has restated its resolve to strengthen the Nigeria Police Force and other security agencies with modern equipment, improved training, and sustained logistical support to tackle insecurity across the country.
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, represented by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Senator George Akume, gave the assurance on Saturday during the Passing Out Parade of the Regular Course 7/2019 Cadets of the Nigeria Police Academy, Wudil, Kano.
Addressing top government officials, security chiefs, traditional rulers, and families of graduating cadets, Tinubu described the event as a “momentous milestone” and a reflection of ongoing progress in fortifying Nigeria’s security architecture.
The president praised the transformation of the police academy, noting advancements in infrastructure, academic standards, and training quality, as well as its growth into a degree-awarding institution. He commended patriotic Nigerians whose contributions shaped the academy into what he described as a hub for producing disciplined, knowledgeable, and value-driven officers.
Tinubu reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to building a modern, people-centred Police Force grounded in integrity, accountability, professionalism, and respect for human rights.
“Our vision remains clear — to raise a Police Force that is well educated, well trained, and fully equipped to manage internal security with dignity and fairness,” he said.
He applauded the academy’s management for aligning with the administration’s reform agenda and emphasised the need for intelligence-driven, community-oriented policing to earn public trust.
Delivering the president’s charge, Senator Akume urged the new cadets to uphold integrity, professionalism, and patriotism as they assume national duties. He emphasised that the officers must serve with honour and fairness while maintaining exemplary character at all times.
