President Bola Tinubu has ordered the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) to extend intensive surveillance and security operations to Kwara, Kebbi and Niger states as part of renewed efforts to tackle rising kidnappings and terrorist activities in the region.
Special Adviser on Media and Public Communications to President Tinubu, Sunday Dare, announced the directive on X on Tuesday, saying the President mandated a full security cordon over forested areas where criminal groups are believed to be hiding.
Under the new directive, the president said the NAF is to conduct continuous 24-hour air surveillance across the deepest parts of the forests and maintain close coordination with ground forces already stationed in the affected states.
“President Tinubu directed the Air Force to expand its air surveillance across the innermost parts of the forests in Kwara State, where it is believed the terrorists are hiding. They are to maintain a 24-hour surveillance and link up with the boots on the ground.
According to the president, the heightened operation is expected to support ongoing rescue efforts and dislodge armed groups responsible for recent attacks.
President Tinubu also urged that “residents of communities in Kwara, Kebbi and Niger have been urged to promptly report suspicious movements or activities to aid the work of security agencies.”
