President Bola Tinubu says 38 worshippers abducted in Eruku, Kwara State, have been rescued, alongside 51 of the missing students kidnapped from a Catholic school in Niger State.
In a statement posted via his X account on Sunday, the president said he had cancelled his planned trip to the G20 Summit in South Africa to personally coordinate national security efforts following a series of attacks and abductions.
Tinubu disclosed that he has been receiving continuous updates from security chiefs and monitoring developments across the country in real time.
He commended security agencies for their recent breakthroughs and assured Nigerians that operations to rescue the remaining abducted students are ongoing.
“Let me be clear: I will not relent,” the president said. “Every Nigerian, in every state, has the right to safety — and under my watch, we will secure this nation and protect our people.”
Tinubu reaffirmed his commitment to restoring public safety nationwide, stressing that the federal government will continue to deploy all necessary resources to combat insecurity.
