U.S. President Donald Trump has sparked global concern after declaring that he ordered the United States Navy to take lethal action against any vessels attempting to lay mines in the strategically vital Strait of Hormuz.
In a strongly worded statement, Trump said naval forces should “shoot and kill” any small boats involved in mining operations, stressing that there should be “no hesitation” in carrying out the directive. He also claimed that hostile naval forces in the region had already been neutralized, asserting that “their naval ships are all… at the bottom of the sea,” though no official confirmation has been provided to support that claim.
The Strait of Hormuz, located between the Iran and Oman, is one of the world’s most critical oil transit chokepoints, with a significant portion of global crude supply passing through it daily. Any escalation in military activity in the area raises immediate concerns over international shipping, oil prices, and regional stability.
