Troops of Operation HADIN KAI have restored normal traffic flow along the Magumeri–Gubio road in Borno State after suspected terrorists set two vehicles ablaze in an early morning attack.
Security sources disclosed that the incident occurred around 9:15 a.m. on April 24, when troops of the 109 Special Forces Battalion, working in conjunction with the 149 Battalion, received credible intelligence on insurgents moving on motorcycles near Madamari village.
Acting swiftly, the troops—supported by forest guards and members of the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF)—mobilised and advanced to the area on a fighting patrol.
Upon arrival, they discovered that two Toyota pickup vans transporting cement, grains, and kitchen utensils had been set on fire by the attackers. Fortunately, no casualties were recorded.
The troops immediately secured the area, cordoned off surrounding settlements, and evacuated the burnt vehicles from the road to ensure the safe passage of commuters along the busy axis.
The operation, which covered approximately 42 kilometres, was concluded without direct engagement with the fleeing insurgents, as the patrol returned to base after stabilising the situation.
Sources noted that although calm has been restored, the security situation in the area remains unpredictable. However, troops are said to be maintaining high morale and operational readiness to respond to any emerging threats.
