Troops of Operation ENDURING PEACE have arrested a suspect believed to be connected to an attack on forest guards and local hunters in Jema’a Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
The incident was disclosed in a post shared on X on Friday by security analyst Zagazola Makama.
According to the post, troops under Sector 7 responded around 9:35 a.m. on April 23 after receiving reports that armed men had attacked forest guards and hunters in Gidan Waya and were retreating toward the Jagindi Forest.
The troops quickly moved into the area and launched a pursuit operation towards Ungwan Maruwa. During the chase, one of the suspects reportedly fled on sighting the troops, abandoning his motorcycle.
Security sources said the area was later cordoned off and searched. During the operation, troops recovered one AK-47 rifle, one AK-49 rifle, the abandoned motorcycle, and other items.
In a follow-up operation back in Gidan Waya, the troops arrested a suspect identified as Ahmed Musa, who was linked to the earlier attack.
“The suspect and the recovered items are currently in military custody, while investigations are ongoing,” Makama wrote.
Efforts are also being intensified to track down other members of the group who escaped, as security operations continue in the area.
