A tragic stampede at a convocation after-party in Ikere-Ekiti has claimed the lives of three people, including two students of Bamidele Olumilua University of Education, Science and Technology and a staff member of a popular hotel in the town.
The incident, which occurred late Sunday night, was confirmed on Monday morning by eyewitnesses, who described scenes of chaos as attendees struggled to move within the crowded venue.
According to preliminary accounts, the stampede was triggered when a large crowd attempted to move from one section of the event space to another, resulting in a crush that left several people injured and three dead.
