The Oyo State Police Command on Thursday confirmed the arrest of three suspected kidnappers linked to the abduction of a resident, Marian Remi, in the Ido Local Government Area of the state.
NGGOSSIPS Metro learnt that the suspects, Musa Ajibola (29), Hassan Mohammadu (63), and Umaru Hassan (19), were arrested on April 21 at Latayo Farm Settlement, Ile-Idu, following intelligence provided by members of the public.
The state Police Public Relations Officer, Olayinka Ayanlade, disclosed this in a statement in Ibadan, noting that the suspects had been linked to the kidnapping and subsequent release of the victim.
The PPRO said, “The state police command wishes to inform the general public of a significant breakthrough in the investigation of a previously reported kidnapping incident involving one Marian Remi ‘F’ of Lafayo Farm Settlement via Alaraba Village, Ile-Ido.
“The command reassures residents that the safety of lives and property remains its top priority and, in furtherance of this commitment, continues to rely on credible intelligence and active public cooperation to combat crime effectively.
“Following credible intelligence provided by members of the public, the state Commissioner of Police, Olugbenga Abimbola, promptly directed a coordinated operation which led to the arrest of three suspects at Latayo Farm Settlement, Ile-Ido, all of whom have been directly linked to the kidnapping and subsequent release of the victim.
“In the course of the investigation, the suspects confessed to their involvement in the crime, thereby providing further insight into the criminal operation, while efforts are ongoing to apprehend other accomplices and ensure that all perpetrators are brought to justice.”
The police also commended members of the public for providing useful information that aided the operation, urging residents to continue supporting security agencies with credible intelligence.
“While commending this support, the CP encourages citizens to deepen their trust in the police and sustain this partnership through continuous intelligence sharing, mutual respect, and active engagement, as collective vigilance and cooperation remain key to building a safer and more secure society for all,” the statement added.
The arrest comes as the command also announced that two persons sustained gunshot injuries during a foiled kidnap attempt in the Old Kara area of Bodija, Ibadan North Local Government Area of Oyo State.
Ayanlade said in a statement issued in Ibadan, the state capital, on Thursday, that the incident occurred on April 21, 2026, at about 7:50 pm.
