Kiwanuka passed away on April 5 while receiving treatment at Nile International Hospital at around 4 pm, making Easter Sunday particularly heartbreaking for the family.

The 59-year-old accountant reportedly suffered a cardiac arrest, leaving behind seven children.
Family, friends, and colleagues held a requiem mass in his honour at St Andrew’s Church, Jinja, followed by his burial on Wednesday, April 15, at his ancestral home in Magamaga Town Council, Uganda.

The emotional young woman stood beside her siblings, who had already spoken during the service, as she eulogised her beloved father.
She noted that Kiwanuka ensured they never lacked anything and were never sent home due to unpaid school fees.
What did Alex Kiwanuka’s daughter say at his burial?
The young lady described her father as a present and devoted parent who always showed up for them and never missed any school activity.
“Sometimes we think we have time to say goodbye and do many things, but we don’t. For now, we can only say goodbye to him,” she said.
While concluding her tribute, she called on mourners and family members who had spoken earlier to let go of the past.
“Many of you are saying very hurtful things, but I kindly ask you to respect my dad’s burial and funeral. Even if you did not like him or are happy that he is gone, I request you to please respect him,” she said.
She acknowledged that many issues had occurred since 2022, which some people referenced during the ceremony.

However, she pleaded with mourners to bury their words, noting that such remarks deeply hurt families. She concluded by thanking those who took time to mourn and stand with them during their grief.
“With my dad lying in that coffin, I humbly request you to respect him. I also sincerely thank all of you for taking time to come and mourn with my brothers and sisters, because many people lose loved ones and not even 100 people attend the funeral. I thank God that I can even see important figures here. Thank you so much, and Daddy, may your soul rest in peace,” she concluded.
