Yobe State Governor, Hon. Mai Mala Buni, has urged Nigerians to pray for Nigeria, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, and other leaders in the country.

He made the call during a meeting with the Chief Imams of Jummat mosques across the state on Tuesday.

This was disclosed in a statement by the Director General of Press and Media Affairs to the Governor, Comrade Mohammed Mamman.

According to Mamman, the first phase of the meeting, organized for Muslim and Christian clerics in the state, was attended by over 800 chief imams of the various Friday Jummat mosques.

Buni explained that Nigeria needs prayers against internal and external evil machinations to ensure peace reigns and Nigeria prospers.

He explained that there would be no meaningful development without peace, “and that is why it is important for us to come together to support our leaders to save our country”.

Buni reminded the religious leaders of the sad and unfortunate experience of the state at the peak of the Boko Haram challenge.

“Many people were killed, millions displaced, and properties destroyed. We cannot afford to be drawn back into such an experience; therefore, we should support our leaders to ensure Nigeria remains united and peaceful.

“We thank God for the relative peace we now enjoy, and we cannot afford to toy with it. We will support the federal government to guard it jealously,” Gov.Buni added.

He noted that Nigeria is the most populous country in Africa, “most African countries look up to us and pray for peace to reign in the country.

The Governor reminded the people that “they have no other country to call home except Nigeria.

“Therefore, it is our responsibility as citizens to pray for a lasting peace and prosperity of Nigeria, and for God to guide President Tinubu and all other leaders,” he added.

The Special Adviser to the Governor on Religious Affairs, Ustaz Babagana Malam Kyari, said the meeting was to remind the Imams of the need to pray for Nigeria and all the leaders.

“It is a great joy that here in Yobe state, we enjoy peace and harmony among our clerics and the understanding of the need for prayers for our leaders,” he said.

The Special Adviser said the second phase of the meeting would cover pastors and leaders of all churches across the state.

Over 800 Jummat Friday mosque imams attended the meeting, pledging to convey the message of peace and peaceful coexistence to their followers.

The imams promised  to intensify prayers for the country, President Tinubu, Gov. Buni, and other leaders for peace to reign and for Nigeria to prosper.
