Operatives of the Delta State Police Command have arrested four suspected cultists while disrupting cult initiation activities in a Delta community.
The operatives also recovered firearms and illicit drugs from the suspects.
NGGOSSIPS Metro gathered that on April 11, 2026, at about 11:45hrs, operatives of Delta Shield, while on surveillance patrol at Orerokpe in Okpe Local Government Area, intercepted one Peter Onajite, aged 32.
A search conducted on the suspect led to the recovery of one locally made double-barrel cut-to-size pistol; two live cartridges; one expended cartridge; as well as sachets of suspected Tramadol.
During preliminary investigation, the suspect reportedly confessed to being the leader of the Juris Confraternity.
The spokesperson for the Delta State Police Command, Bright Edafe, while confirming the incident, told journalists that the suspect is currently in custody while the investigation is ongoing.
In another development, on April 12, 2026, at about 13:00hrs, following a report of a suspected cult initiation involving one Chinedu Onyeama (now at large) and members of a cult group known as Aiye, operatives attached to the Ibusa Police Division swiftly mobilised to Jordan Road, Ibusa.
The operation led to the arrest of three suspects, including a female.
A search conducted at the premises resulted in the recovery of one English-made Beretta pistol with one round of live ammunition, three battle axes, one hammer, one cutlass, and 39 fire lighters.
The suspects are currently in custody, while efforts are ongoing to arrest the fleeing suspect, the PPRO said.
According to the statement, the state Commissioner of Police, Yemi Oyeniyi, commended the operatives for their professionalism and prompt response.
The CP reaffirmed the command’s commitment to intelligence-led policing and warned that the police will continue to clamp down on cult-related activities and other violent crimes.
