The Delta State Police Command has arrested four suspected armed robbers in separate operations within Asaba and its environs, recovering two firearms and a live cartridge.
According to a statement issued on Thursday by the Police Public Relations Officer, Bright Edafe, the arrests were carried out by operatives of the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) and the Crack Squad during coordinated stop-and-search and patrol operations.
In the first incident on April 23, 2026, at about 4:25 p.m., RRS operatives on routine stop-and-search along the Ugbolu/Asaba Road intercepted a 28-year-old suspect, identified as Chinoso Igwemma. His suspicious behaviour prompted a search, during which a fabricated Beretta pistol was recovered from him.
The police said the suspect is currently in custody and assisting ongoing investigations, noting that the prompt intervention of the operatives likely prevented a criminal attack.

In a separate operation, Crack Squad operatives on patrol in the Bonsaac area of Asaba intercepted a tricycle carrying three male passengers.
A search of the suspects, Umuadi Benjamin Chinecherem (30), Nwabueze Kelvin (28), and Okonkwo Celestine (30), led to the recovery of a locally made cut-to-size pistol loaded with a live cartridge.
Preliminary investigations indicate that the suspects are allegedly linked to armed robbery activities and the dispossession of unsuspecting residents of their valuables.
The Command stated that efforts are ongoing to uncover their network and apprehend other members of the gang.
The Commissioner of Police, Delta State Command, CP Yemi Oyeniyi, reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to intelligence-led policing and proactive strategies aimed at preventing crime and dismantling criminal networks across the state.
